Can I bring cake or decorations?
Yes, you’re more then welcome to bring your own cake or decorations. There is no charge for this service. Celebration cakes will be served after desserts. Balloons are allowed however we do not allow for table confetti or party poppers. Please, contact us to arrange details.
What is the dress code?
We have a smart dress code at The Chequers in the evenings. No flip flops, no sportswear, no baseball cups.
Are children welcome?
Yes, we welcome children however please note due to Licensing Laws, children are not allowed in the bar area after 9pm. We kindly ask parents to supervise their children when dining in the restaurant or on the terrace. Highchairs are available. Check out our Children’s menu.
Is smoking allowed? It is against the law to smoke in these premises. Smoking is also not permitted on our terraces. This also applies to E-cigarettes. If you wish to smoke, you can do so outside the main entrance.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are allowed in the bar area or in the garden. Please note, dogs are not allowed in the restaurant or on the terrace. Please, call the restaurant direct to confirm table availability in the bar.
Is gluten free and vegetarian food available?
Yes, there are various options available in our menus.
Has provision been made for wheelchairs users?
Yes we have disabled access. Our front entrance, bar, disabled bathroom and dining room are all on one level. Although the terrace and some parts of the garden are difficult to navigate, please do call ahead so we can make your visit as hassle free as possible.
Is parking provided?
We have a car park alongside the pub and restaurant. There is no charge for parking. There is also off-road parking.
How can I pay?
We accept cash, American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Google Pay, Apple Pay and contactless. Sorry, we don’t accept cheques.
Do you serve brunch?
We serve brunch on Saturdays only from 11.am until 1.30pm in addition in our usual menu options. A selection of brunch drinks are also available. View our Brunch Menu
Is the restaurant air conditioned?
Yes (and in winter we have a lovely log fire)
Is there live music at The Chequers?
Yes we host a variety of music events throughout the year including a series of popular cabaret tribute acts evenings. See our events section to see what is coming up.
Is the restaurant available for private hire?
Yes, we can host weddings, special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries), christenings and corporate functions in our restaurant. Please visit our Group Dining section for more information.
Are larger parties catered for?
Yes, depending on the format of your event we can seat from 25 to 80 people. See our Group Dining section for more details.
Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes, we sell gift vouchers, they are available in any amount and can be used toward either lunch or dinner. Vouchers are valid for a 12 months from date of purchase. Our vouchers are available to buy online or direct from the restaurant.
